Urbana High School has announced that Joe Conner will take over the position of head coach for the varsity football team for the upcoming football season. The decision was announced to the football players Friday, June 12, during school. Conner will be taking over as head football coach for Joe Polce who resigned the position earlier this year to spend more time with his family. Conner has held, and will still hold, the position as head coach for the Urbana varsity lacrosse team. There will be a lot of pressure on Conner to be successful because of the previous success of the football program at Urbana. During Polce’s four years as head coach, the football team had a 33-14 record and made the playoffs all four years. Conner has been very successful as the lacrosse coach leading them to the state championship game this past year.
